Introduction
There has been a lot of rumors and attention placed on the new Apple
iPhone that was recently introduced by Steve Jobs in the
international electronics expo held in Las Vegas Nevada this past
month in January 2007. The buzz has not only surrounded the new
phone, but also the methodology that Steve Jobs used to introduced
the new phone, the fact that Apple is being sued for the use of the
name iPhone, and that he personally is being targeted by the IRS and
FBI for un-recorded stock options. Did these events come in the
right time or what! Hey negative buzz on Steve Jobs still infuses
with the introduction of his new iPhone and causes its name to be
advertised free everywhere. So every time they discuss new news
about the outcome Steve Jobs the new Apple iPhone, which is right
now under much scrutiny by competitors gets put into the mix as
well. Samsung the Korean
electronics giant recently have generated news that they will also
have their own version out to compete with the new Apple
iPhone that is expect to come out in June of 2007 in the U.S.,
the end of 2007 in Europe and in Asia sometime in 2008
.

Congratulations is in order for
Cingular
AT&T for snagging the GSM enable quad-banded Apple
branded iPhone first. Much like the Black Razr
two years ago, Cingular is trying to capitalize on innovation but
with Apple instead of Motorola who in recent months have not stepped
up to expectations. The 4GB Apple
iPhone is expected to go for
$499 with a two-year contract, while the 8GB will be priced
higher at $599.
What's Included In The Box

There is something amiss if you are
missing the phone itself when receiving the package from Cingular.
So expect a iPhone! You should also receive a standard battery,
a travel charger
or USB travel charger much like the iPods, a stereo headset that
works with both phone & iPod functions, data-cable to upload and
download or share tunes, and a warranty / instruction manual. For
additional accessories such as additional batteries, chargers, cases,
holsters,
and Bluetooth
headsets try visiting Apple,
Cingular or other
retailers near you.

The new Apple
iPhone combines three products into one. Apple innovates a new
revolutionary mobile phone and fuses it with a widescreen iPod
with multi-touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet
communications device using the iPhone's OS X platform and Wi-Fi
technologies. Steve Jobs and his design engineers have fully
equipped the new iPhone with desktop-class email, web browsing,
Google-enabled maps, and searching functions — into one small,
lightweight, and aerodynamically sleek looking handheld
device. The iPhone also introduces an entirely new user
interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new
software, letting you control everything with just the touch of your
fingers. Therefore, Apple believes that their new iPhone will quote
- "ushers in an era of software power and sophistication never
before seen in a mobile device, completely redefining what you can
do on a mobile phone". The introduction of the new iPhone
in June 2007 should bring about a new cultural revolution.
Especially with iPod users. These people will surely switch to the
new iPhone, if they are GSM users at first. However, don't worry
about it too much. There should be a CDMA version coming out. Apple
will probably want to invest in the CDMA version so they can capitalize
with the likes of Verizon Wireless and Sprint in the future.
However, because it will largely sell in Europe and Asia, where GSM
predominately rules makes it more viable for them to introduce their
new device in the GSM version. But there should be CDMA version
within a year into the introduction in June 2007. The new iPhone, a
widescreen iPod with touch controls also includes music, audiobooks,
videos, TV shows, and movies at a touch of the phone. It also lets
you sync your content from the iTunes library on your PC or Mac just
like iPods in the market currently. Making calls with your iPhone
has just gotten simpler. This revolutionary new mobile phone allows
you to make a call by simply pointing your finger at a name or
number in your address book, a favorites list, or within your call
log. It also allows you to automatically sync all your contacts
from a PC, Mac, or Internet service with ease. And it lets you
select and listen to voicemail messages in whatever order you want
— just like email. Ahhh.... a luxury, but you deserve it. Right!
The iPhone also features a rich HTML email client and Safari —
the most advanced web browser ever on a portable device —
which automatically syncs bookmarks from your PC or Mac. Safari also
includes built-in Google and Yahoo search capabilities. Lastly the
iPhone is fully multi-tasking, so you can read a web page while
downloading your email in the background over Wi-Fi (802.11 Mbs) or
EDGE.
Multi-touch Feature

The Apple
iPhone features the most revolutionary user interface since the
mouse. It’s an entirely new interface based on a large multi-touch
display and innovative new software that lets you control everything
using only your fingers. So you can glide through albums with Cover
Flow, flip through photos and email them with a touch, or zoom in
and out on a section of a web page — all by simply using iPhone’s
multi-touch display.
Intelligent Keyboard Feature

The Apple iPhone’s full QWERTY soft
keyboard lets you easily send and receive SMS messages in multiple
sessions. And the keyboard is predictive, so it prevents and
corrects mistakes, making it easier and more efficient to use than
the small plastic keyboards on many smartphones.

Expect a large vibrant LCD display. Apple Inc. signifies quality and
so dose the price tag. So I can say that the new 3.5 inch 320 x 480
at 160 ppi LCD multi-touch-screen display will be vibrant and
efficient with its landscape viewable mode. The new iPhone is
expected to have a OS X operating system as indicated by the Apple
site and have storage space of 4GB & 8GB sold at different price
tags. The introduction to Cingular signifies GSM technology. The
phone will support quad-banded frequencies between 850-1900 MHz and
have Wi-Fi + EDGE + Bluetooth® 2.0 infused technologies. The
dimensions for the iPhone will be 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.46 inches / 115 x 61
x 11.6mm. This means that the phone will not only fit within the
palm of your hands, but you can also lose due to its very thin
width. The battery will support up to 5 hours of talk / video /
browsing time and up to 16 hours of audio playback. This can vary
however, due to wear and tear on the phone and other factors such as
weather or defects. The iPhone even though it has so many
applications only weighs in only at 4.8 ounces / 135 grams. The
weight makes the phone viable for both sexes and will make it easy
to carry around.

Conclusion
In overall retrospect, the new iPhone
has the look the feel and the efficiency of other devices like the
iPod to make a great impact much like the iPods made a few years
ago. The phone not only has features like landscape mode view
features, Google maps to help you find your way, Bluetooth + EDGE +
Wi-Fi, calling / mailing capabilities but it finally after years of
expectations infuses actual iPod, Zune, or Creative Zen capabilities
into a cell phone which I think is fabulous. Instead of spending
your money on separate devices you now have the ability to get a
all-in-one type of device. Its probably going to be very popular and
may outsell iPods this Winter 2007, but there is still the concern
about its calling features. How well can Cingular using its network
to support the iPhone's receptive qualities. That is when making
calls will there be distortions, will the phone be caller-friendly
or will it give problems. No one has yet to test these functions as
of yet. So I would recommend that you find out about its calling
strengths / weaknesses prior to purchase. But overall, I as a avid
Gym goer myself would find use for such a phone and give this phone
a 8/10 for its features/specifications affectivity, however, due to
myself not being able to test the phone, 8 is the highest I can give
thus far.
