Audiovox UT Starcom General Information
Audiovox Corporation is a publicly traded company (Nasdaq: VOXX) located in Hauppauge, New York. Our company was founded in 1965 in the car radio business and went public in 1987. We have always been one of the premier brands in mobile electronics with a product portfolio that includes, car sound, mobile video, vehicle security, remote start and tracking and navigation. We became a pioneer in the cellular industry, selling our first vehicle-installed cellular telephones in 1984 as a natural expansion of our automotive aftermarket business. We divested that business in 2004. AEC (our consumer electronics subsidiary) sells mobile and consumer electronics products to a distribution network that includes, power retailers, specialty retailers, distributors to new car dealers, original equipment manufacturers (OEM's), mass merchants and the U.S. military. On November 1, 2004, the Company sold the assets of its cellular subsidiary Audiovox Communications Corp to UTStarcom. This transaction, the largest in the Company's history will allow Audiovox to concentrate more heavily on its Electronics business as well as seek other possible acquisition targets. During the transition and until October 31, 2005, Audiovox Corporation will continue to host cellular products on this website.
