Requirements
Motorola Phone Tools requires Windows¢ç 2000, Millennium, or XP.
For Motorola Phone Tools to operate properly, please also verify the following:
- A PC with a Pentium¢ç II 233 MHz computer, connected to your mobile phone (with a cable, an Infrared port or a Bluetooth adapter)
- One available USB, or serial port if using a cable connection, or an active Bluetooth adapter, or a fully working Infrared port.
- Local hard drive with 120MB free space.
- Mobile phone or Device that is compatible with Motorola Phone Tools.
- Data/fax option included in the subscription contract with your cell phone operator (to allow fax and e-mails transmission and reception).
- High speed data networks (GPRS, CDMA 1X and WCDMA) options included in the subscription contract with your mobile phone operator (for high speed e-mail and Internet use on the mobile phone network); data service is a network and subscription dependant feature that may not be available in all areas. Please contact your wireless service provider for details.
- Minimum active memory: 32MB of RAM under Windows¢ç 98 and Millennium, 64MB of RAM under Windows¢ç
2000 and XP.

Complete Software Installation
Important! Before connecting the device to your PC, you need to install the software.
To install Motorola Phone Tools on your hard drive, insert the CD-ROM containing the program in the appropriate drive. When installing Motorola Phone Tools from the CD-ROM, the installation process starts automatically.
Should the installation program not start, execute the following instructions:
1. From the Start menu (accessible from the task bar), select the Run command.
2. Select the drive that contains the CD or type D:SETUP (D: represents the CD-ROM drive).
3. To run the file, click OK.
An installation wizard will guide you step-by-step through the installation process,
Prompting for information where needed. During the installation procedure, the content of the CD-ROM is copied onto your hard drive and a program group is created to hold the application icons for Motorola Phone Tools.
Note: After installation, the online registration wizard is automatically launched. The registration is necessary to benefit from the guarantee, the technical assistance, and free upgrades.
Depending on the operating system, when the installation process is completed, the installation wizard asks you to restart your computer so that all system changes take effect.
The Add a shortcut to the desktop to start the program box is checked by default. If you prefer to start Motorola Phone Tools from the Start menu in the taskbar, remove the check.
Note: At first launch, the software automatically launches Live Update and checks for any software updates.

Mobile Device Installation and Configuration
Important! Please do not connect your mobile or your mobile device to your PC until instructed to do so by the Motorola Phone Tools software installation wizard.
1. Select your user profile. Normally, your software has been setup to work automatically with your mobile phone or device, so this step is automatic. However, if the connection type is not detected, the Phone Setup Wizard window will be displayed.
2. Select the connection type you will use to connect your phone to your PC (cable, Bluetooth or infrared).
3. Click on Next and the Phone Setup screen will display.
4. Power on your phone and connect it to the cable, then to your PC. If already connected to the computer, unplug the data cable from the computer side, and reconnect it. Your phone will be detected and setup automatically.
Note: The application will be launched at the end of the installation process.
Running Live Update
Motorola PhoneTools & mobile Phone Tools Software (MPT) Live Update
- Make sure your Motorola phone is not connected to the computer
- Install MPT . After MPT is installed you will see the below dialog:
- Click on OK, and you will see the below dialog:
- Click on Cancel, and you will see the below dialog:
- Now Click on No and the generic image of MPT will show up. Click on Menu
> Setup > Live
- Click on Next from the Live update dialog as shown below:
- Click on Next again from the dialog shown below:
- Click on Next again from the dialog shown below:
- Click on Next again from the dialog shown below:
- Click on Next again from the dialog shown below:
- Click on Install from the dialog shown below:
- Click on Finish from the dialog below:
- Repeat steps 3 through 9 until there are no more Motorola Phone Tools updates.

Using
the icons on the MPT Main window
Motorola Phone Tools Main Window
With Motorola Phone Tools you can share the information contained on your PC with your mobile phone. When your mobile phone is connected to your computer, you can perform the following operations:
- Place and receive calls.
- Send and receive emails and SMS.
- Synchronize your phonebooks and calendar.
- Launch an internet session*.
- Send MMS*.
- Transfer video clips* from PC to phone and vice versa.
- Send modified music clips* to phone from PC.
Note: Some of Motorola Phone Tools features might not be available with your phone or device.
