Bluetooth calls and music with comfort

Comments:
I don't like earbuds because nothing sounds good and they bother my ears, so I prefer the over-the-ear style even though they are bulky. I also wanted a Bluetooth headset that can take calls. Who wants to carry two headsets? A bluetooth headset that is for both ears and is over the ears is really hard to find, especially one that will also do phone calls, so I was glad to see this one the market.
These meet my needs and have optional wires for airplane use. I am a bit concerned about the calls part as there is no boom microphone (have not yet tested). Instead the mic is on the headset itself. I don't know how well it will pick up voice from over my ear. I don't want to be shouting while wearing the headset.
Today is the maiden voyage of the headset for music during the commute. I've been wearing them for 50 minutes now. Thus far the comfort is quite good. The top band is a head-compatible shape and nicely padded. They aren't compressing the sides of my head together in a headache-inducing manner. Nor do they press significantly on the ears themselves. The buttons are big, the track advance wheel is easy locate and use as is the audio volume wheel on the left. Sound quality is good, though not top notch. The weight is not bad, though they are bulky. They look heavier than they feel.
The pairing protocol is grindly annoying. Certainly, some fault is with my phone as this is not the first headset it has not been easy to connect, but it finicky in different way than my last headset . Some of the blame has to be the protocols and software -- it will recognize the headset but won't connect. The initial pairing is a snap, but it is moving from the "paired but not connected" to the "connected" state that is dysfunctional. Yes, bluetooth was turned on on the phone.
Some of the problem, I chalk up to poor industrial design. Having 1 button turn on/off, dial, switch calls, pair, and connect depending how long you hold it down stinks! This is the third headset I've owned like this. While I was trying to get it to connect, it dialed the last number called three times rather than kick off the connect sequence. It also powerd off once. Mostly though, it gives the steady light signal for paired but isn't connecting. One time it said connected but still didn't have audio. It took 4 tries in the AM commute and 8 in the evening to actually get the music to come out of the headset rather than the phone speaker once the headset was "paired".
Overall, it is a nice and comfortable headset and I'm happy with it..
